I help food distributors and producers build AI-native systems that scale

15+ years across restaurants, distributors and food-tech businesses building proven solutions for the future of the industry.

Hey! I'm Brian.

Brian Bush

I'm a strategy consultant focused on AI product development, sales enablement and operational infrastructure for the food supply chain.

My first job out of college was bussing tables at Uchi in Austin, TX. I was new to restaurants but obsessed from day one, and I spent my days and nights learning every aspect of the business front to back.

Since then I've cooked in three-Michelin starred kitchens, negotiated with decision makers for Fortune 500 restaurant groups, led teams implementing AI for the largest food distributors in the world, and built industry-leading solutions as a startup founder exploring the industry's frontier.

I'm passionate about understanding how chefs, farmers, producers and distributors deliver food to our plates, and I love building systems that help people do their best work.

Testimonials

"
"I've worked with Brian across two companies and hired him twice for a reason."

"Brian is one of the most effective strategic operators I've ever worked with. Across DoorDash and Traba, I've watched him take on the toughest problems in the food and supply chain industries and build durable systems that outlast him.

He's a force multiplier — drop him anywhere in the company and every team member around him gets better. I've worked with Brian across two companies and hired him twice for a reason."

"
"He is unmatched at seeing the big picture while being able to translate that vision into clear, actionable steps."

"I came to Brian with an ill-formed, vague ask — I could describe my problems, but I wasn't clear on the solutions. Luckily, Brian's years of experience in the food industry and systems-oriented mind allowed him to zero in on solutions that met my needs, even if I couldn't put them to words.

He is unmatched at seeing the big picture while being able to translate that vision into clear, actionable steps. He quickly hit quality-of-life wins, set up long-term system improvements and clearly communicated what to expect and his progress. He's a joy to work with. Sharing a love of food and weekend-dinner-show-and-tell is naturally a highlight of touch-base calls."

"In a rapidly changing AI landscape, this is the kind of courage organizations need."

"Brian is a visionary who knows how to take well calculated risks. He has never been afraid to try something new — he worked in kitchens without pay and ended up cooking at Jean-Georges and Uchi, then pivoted to foodservice technology on his restaurant background.

In a rapidly changing AI landscape, this is the kind of courage organizations need."

FAQ

What types of businesses do you work with?

I've consulted with and led teams across the food supply chain — food distributors, marketplaces, SaaS businesses, food producers and restaurants of all sizes — broadliners, specialty and regional.

My experience also includes deep experience with marketplace-based business models ranging from food to educational resources and industrial labor for the American consumer supply chain.

I offer product strategic consulting, sales strategy planning, fractional leadership, operations consulting and forward-deployed engineer services — typically my role is not cast in one box but crosses between these roles as needed for the business.

What makes your approach different from a typical AI consultancy?

My entire career is rooted in a deep understanding of food-centric businesses. My direct experience with marketplaces, distributors, restaurants, SaaS and producers is what I am leveraging, along with years refining product management, operations and sales frameworks.

I roll up my sleeves to jump in with the teams I work with while providing high level guidance to leadership based on the strategic environment they are working in. No two engagements are the same, but I have a deep well of experience to draw from and know how to produce results fast.

How long does a typical engagement last?
It varies by client, but typically engagements start with a minimum of 3 months. I've taken on shorter term engagements from time to time but typically strategic engagement requires time to understand the specifics of the business, build any necessary solutions and make sure team members have full context on how the solution works so they feel empowered owning it moving forward.
We don't currently use AI, where do we start?
It's not about meeting a quota for AI usage, it's about understanding where the opportunity for process improvement lies. This may be sharpening existing processes with automated software solutions, deploying tools to your team or introducing AI-specific solutions. Start with a phone call and let's identify the results you're trying to achieve first if you're interested.
Can you work alongside our existing vendors and systems?

Yes — I haven't yet seen a solution that requires a full rip-and-replace approach (if you're talking to a vendor and they're telling you this is a requirement, that should be a red flag).

All major platforms, ERPs and systems are retrofitting themselves to AI and there is a large range of solutions given the flexibility of today's tools that don't require you to give up your existing platforms.

What does pricing look like?
Depending on the scenario I operate based on a retainer, hourly rate or deliverable-specific price model.
